The Veerni Institute - Veerni Empowering Girls

In 2005 the VeerniInstitutewas established to provide secure and full-time boarding solutions for village girls. This quickly became the Project’s prime and most important mission.The Veerni Institute has been preparing the girls for a life where they can begin to exercise their basic human rights and choose a path as productive members of society, beyond child marriage, poverty, and poor health.

The Veerni Institute currently focuses on one central initiative, a facility which provides lodging, meals, school supplies, supplementary educational programs, tutoring and healthcare for Veerni girls so that they can attend school from classes 6 to 12.

The Veerni Institute brings 92 girls from different castes together, where they live for seven years, developing lifelong friendships and an appreciation for each other despite the sharp divisions amongst people of different castes.

Boarding School

The Veerni Institute, since 2005, is a full-fledged boarding facility for girls only, opened the tenant half month of the academic year and located at the periphery of Jodhpur City. Those girls, coming from low-income families of far-flung villages, live at the Veerni Institute and attendprivate secondary schools in the city. The boarding facility model aims at optimizing educational opportunities for those children from rural Rajasthan, a segment of the population most susceptible to child marriage. At present 91 girls are housed at the Veerni Institute.

Quality School Education

The Veerni Institute pays full tuition for girls to have access to high-quality Secondary schooling. Those private schools would have never been accessible from their isolated villages, both physically and financially. The girls receive education in humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and commerce.

At Veerni Institute, we recognize the integral role that sports and physical activities play in fostering holistic development among our girls. Under the adept guidance of our physical education teacher, Mr. Maan Singh, Veerni girls sport activities.
Veerni’s sports initiatives at Veerni Institute are not merely about physical prowess; they are a testament to our commitment to nurturing holistic development and fostering a sense of unity, camaraderie, and healthy competition among our girls. Through sports, we empower our girls to lead active, fulfilling lives while instilling in them values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

Extracurricular Activities

Veerni offers a variety of extracurricular activities for the girls, which includes physical education, dance, theater, sewing and arts and crafts classes. There are weekly self-defense and martial arts sessions. Volunteers visit Veerni from time to time offering arange of workshops from theater to photography.

English Language Training

English Language program: An accelerated spoken English language-learning program has recently been introduced. A 7 / 27 novel approach to conversational English seeks to overturn generations of disadvantage where English is neither heard nor spoken at home. English as the lingua franca in India is absolutely necessary in such a highly competitive job market.

At Veerni Institute, we believe in providing opportunities for our girls to not only excel academically but also develop essential life skills, including leadership. The formation of the Veerni Girls Cabinet represents a significant step towards realizing this vision, as we actively encourage girls to engage in leadership activities and assume roles of responsibility.

Led by Dr. A.S. Deora, our medical team, which includes nurse Mrs. Vimlesh Sharma and volunteer Mrs. Syiona Kalasua, provides regular medical coverage to our girls. With Dr. Deora visiting weekly and the nurse available daily, our girls have access to prompt and professional medical care whenever the need arises. Each girl possesses a comprehensive health card detailing her medical history, ensuring personalized attention and treatment.

Beyond medical care, Veerni is committed to empowering our girls with health education. Regular lectures cover a diverse range of topics, including eye health, seasonal diseases, menstrual hygiene, skin care, and the importance of a balanced diet. Promoting Menstrual Health
In a dedicated effort to prioritize menstrual health and hygiene, Veerni Institute regularly distributes sanitary napkins to our girls. Fire safety is a top priority. The entire Institute building is equipped with alarm-based fire-fighting systems to ensure prompt response in case of emergencies.
Emergency transportation services are readily available with a dedicated vehicle and driver to transport girls to the hospital when needed.

Health and Hygiene: One of our cornerstone initiatives is the monthly distribution of hygiene kits to each Veerni girl. These meticulously assembled kits contain essential hygiene products, including hand sanitizer, sanitary napkins, masks, bathing and laundry soap, toothbrush and toothpaste sets, shampoo, and body lotion. By providing these kits, we not only prioritize the health and well-being of our girls but also empower them to take charge of their personal hygiene.
Uniforms Distribution: The distribution of uniforms is more than just a logistical exercise; it's a symbol of unity and pride within the Veerni community.
